An owl brought me stillness.

An owl brought me stillness.

I am interested in exploring how thoughts separate us from a deeper shared identity with all things. It seems that when my thoughts stop, I feel the connection. This can be triggered for me by a chance encounter with nature. I remember an owl hovered above me one evening and I froze. More importantly, my thoughts froze so I was brought into the present moment. Thoughts are all about past and future, without them, all that is left is the present. I love that stillness of the mind which makes you aware of the present moment and opens the door to the feeling of connection with all things. Another trigger for me is watching sport, where a crowd of people are all focused on one moment. That collective focus brings us all together as we witness the present moment in unison. With practice, I am finding more and more triggers to experience the 'shared identity'.
